JOB DESCRIPTION

 To support in the delivery of highways schemes as well as help provide highways advice for the other schemes to deliver the outcomes agreed by the Network Board to the programmes and budgets agreed with the Delivery Teams.
 To provide Professional and Technical Excellence in highway engineering.
 To understand the condition of the highways asset and identify areas where it needs improvement.
 To identify schemes that need to be considered in the four year programme.
 To support the Highways Team manage external resources used.
 To support the preparation of designs, reports, specs and other deliverables for highways schemes.
 To prepare quarterly training reports and hold quarterly training meetings; and undertake annual training reviews, where undertaking training.
 To ensure designs are appropriate and meet the expected levels of technical excellence.
 To seek innovation in the delivery of schemes and techniques used to design and construct them.
 To ensure the IQMS system is actively applied to all highways schemes.

CANDIDATE SPECIFICATION

 Technical excellence in highways engineering.
 Communications skills.
 Ability to develop relationships and engender trust at all levels of the organisation and with Clients.
 Presentation skills.
 Appropriate qualification in Civil Engineer to qualify for Incorporated Engineer, or be training towards this qualification.
 Knowledge of the use of basic computer office and design packages
 Able to deliver to demanding targets
