In line with their increasing business in India, our Client is looking for a Power Engineer/Designer for their project in Karnataka, Bangalore.

The Consortium will be the general consultant for the first phase of 2 Metro lines. The lines are 18 km and 15 km long with respectively 3.4 and 3.3 km in tunnel. The traction is 750v, third Rail.

The duration of the mission of the Chief 3rd rail traction is 6 months but may be extended if necessary to 22 months.

TASK ASSIGNMENT:

You will report to the Deputy Project Manager for the system group.
You will be responsible for the review and comments on the offer comments on Traction Power arrangements proposed by the tenderers in their bids offers for “Design and Construct” basis, as well as “Construct only” basis keeping in mind the Train Operation Scheme, particularly in peak hours as well as power characteristics of Rolling Stock such as Propulsion system, Braking system, Traction Motor rating and acceleration/deceleration adhesion characteristics.

Tender Design will cover Track substations as well as third rail arrangements. The current collection system of Rail Car should be in agreement with third rail system envisaged. You will ensure standby/duplicate arrangements for power for traction at feed points so that operation of train services does not get affected due to failure.

You will also interface with the civil work construction on the 3rd rail installation and power supply reservations issues before the take over by the detail designer taking into account that part of the viaduct has already started.

In case of Extension to 22 months on top of the previous tasks he will have the following assignment:

Your primary duty is to prepare the tender Design for Power Distribution System taking into consideration the overall requirements of Power including for traction for design of receiving sub-stations and power for other than Traction in respect of other installations such as stations, maintenance shed/depots etc. You will keep in mind the balance between maximum power consumption and supply capacity while considering system integration. You will also keep in mind the arrangements required to be made for standby/duplicate arrangement, so the functioning of rail is not disrupted du to power failure. You also reviews and offer comments on Power distribution arrangement proposed by the tender in their bid offer for works on “Design and Construct” basis as well as “Construct only” basis.
